Why Muay Thai shorts are cut the way they are

The high-cut leg and wide side slits are not styling. Muay Thai is built around the roundhouse and the teep, both of which need unrestricted hip rotation and a knee that can travel past your own waistline. A hem that binds at mid-thigh will quietly shorten your kick before you notice the shorts are the reason. Western training shorts and MMA shorts are cut longer and tighter through the leg, which is fine for grappling and wrong for eight limbs.

MicroSatin, and why fabric matters more in Thailand

Most Muay Thai shorts are satin, nylon, polyester or microfiber. Satin looks the part but wears through. Nylon is durable but does not breathe. MicroSatin blends microfiber and satin: the drape and finish of satin with the durability and moisture handling of microfiber. In a Bangkok or Phuket gym where you train twice a day and nothing dries overnight, that difference stops being cosmetic by day three. Every pair is made in Thailand.

Getting the size right

What are Muay Thai shorts made of?

Yes. Muay Thai shorts are cut the same for men and women and sized by waist measurement, from S to XXL. There is a separate kids range in XS–M.
